Research on Education
The research line ‘Research on Education’ focuses on improving knowledge sharing in the field of epilepsy. Activities include the development and evaluation of various training modules, research into the most effective methods for training neurologists to read EEGs, and activities related to guideline development.
Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs) are essential tools that help healthcare professionals and recipients of care make informed decisions to provide optimal care. These CPGs are systematically developed by expert panels, including CPG methodologists, healthcare professionals, and patient representatives. However, panel members often do not have formal training in CPG development, and the accuracy and complexity of this process have increased significantly over the past decades. It is important to train CPG panel members to ensure the development of high-quality guidelines that impact patient care. The goal of the research into guideline development training is to create a learning platform that can support and standardize this guideline development process.
Specific objectives of this research project include:
- Strengthening the implementation of current guidelines;
- Creating a learning platform for stakeholders involved in guideline development;
- Educating healthcare professionals on effective care by involving them in the creation of evidence-based guidelines;
- Improving the efficiency of updating guidelines.
We achieve this by optimizing guideline training, creating an online community and e-learning platform, developing guideline test cases within the learning environment, and evaluating through design-oriented research aimed at further developing and improving the training.
