Recovery after surgery varies for each patient. Children usually recover quickly, while adults often need more time before they can resume their daily life.

In addition to physical recovery, mental recovery can also take a lot of time. The entire healing process can take more than a year. During this time, you will be monitored by the neurosurgeon and the nurse specialist. At Kempenhaeghe, this aftercare typically includes several telephone or outpatient follow-up appointments. Your personal situation regarding the surgery, recovery, and adjustment to the new situation will be the focus. The first contact usually occurs about three weeks after the surgery.
