Phase 2: Follow-up research on epilepsy surgery
Often, after the research phase in Phase 1, we can provide a good recommendation on whether epilepsy surgery is possible or not. However, for some individuals, we need additional tests. The specific follow-up tests required can vary greatly from case to case. Your doctor will inform you about which tests will take place and at which location.
You might consider the following tests:
PET scan
SPECT scan
MEG scan
EEG-fMRI research
Visual field testing
Blood vessel testing and Wada test
Some follow-up tests carry a higher risk. If a more invasive test is needed in your case, your neurologist and the doctor at the hospital where the test takes place will always inform you about the associated risks.
