G.L. (Louis) Wagner
NeuroloogNeuroloog/klinisch neurofysioloog Louis Wagner is programmaleider epilepsiechirurgie binnen het Academisch Centrum Epileptologie Kempenhaeghe.
Het epilepsiechirurgie-team werkt nauw samen met het team van het Maastricht UMC+, waar de operaties plaatsvinden.
Hij heeft de afgelopen jaren specifieke deskundigheid opgebouwd bij de minder ingrijpende epilepsiechirurgie behandelingen, namelijk de radiofrequente thermocoagulatie tijdens stereo-EEG en MRI-geleide laserbehandeling bij hypothalamus hamartomen. Hij is landelijk aanspreekpunt voor verwijzingen van patiënten met een hypothalamus hamartoom naar buitenlandse centra (vooral Houston en London).
Louis Wagner is daarnaast gespecialiseerd in Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) en Nervus Vagus Stimulatie bij epilepsie. Louis Wagner is voorzitter van de Landelijke Werkgroep neuromodulatie.
Hij is ook betrokken als adviseur bij wetenschappelijk onderzoek naar de inzet van hulphonden bij epilepsie.
