dr. A.J. (Albert) Colon
NeuroloogNeuroloog/klinisch neurofysioloog dr A. Colon werkt in Kempenhaeghe in het diagnostisch programma epilepsiechirurgie met bijzondere aandacht voor SEEG (registratie met behulp van diepte-elektroden in het brein). Daarbij wordt stap voor stap onderzocht of een hersenoperatie een behandeloptie is voor de desbetreffende patiënt.
Besluiten worden genomen in de ACE Werkgroep Epilepsiechirurgie Kempenhaeghe-Maastricht UMC+ (kinderen en volwassenen) en soms ook in de landelijke Werkgroep Epilepsiechirurgie (kinderen). Hij participeert in beide werkgroepen en is ook actief in de Europese werkgroep kinderepilepsiechirurgie (de U-Task).
Daarnaast gaat zijn bijzondere aandacht uit naar neuromodulatie (NVS: nervus vagus stimulatie en DBS: Diepe hersen stimulatie)
Dr A. Colon is betrokken bij wetenschappelijk onderzoek naar pre-chirurgische screening, epilepsiechirurgie en daarmee samenhangende thema's. Hij spreekt regelmatig op (inter)nationale congressen.
