Registration
After registration by a doctor, you will receive a link to complete a set of online questionnaires. The questions will focus on your child's development and current functioning. Based on the answers, we can assess how your child is doing in terms of school, home life, and learning and behavior. The care providers for your child will use this information as preparation for the first consultation.
How does KLIK work?
Two weeks before the first consultation, you will receive a link and a KLIK account through the CNL secretary's office. This will give you access to the online questionnaires available on www.hetklikt.nu.
KLIK is a method used to assess the quality of life, psychosocial functioning, and symptoms of children who are currently or have been treated in a hospital. KLIK stands for Quality of Life In Map. It was developed for all children from zero to eighteen years old and their parent(s)/caregiver(s). If your child is older than eight years, questionnaires may also be available for them.
Invitation to Heeze or Breda
If your child has been referred to Kempenhaeghe, you will receive an invitation for the first consultation at the Heeze or Breda location. The location you visit with your child depends on your place of residence. In exceptional cases (such as illness or long travel times that may be burdensome for your child), the first consultation can also take place via a secure video connection. During a video consultation, we will communicate via a video link using your mobile phone, tablet, or computer.
What should you bring?
Please bring your child’s insurance details and identification with you to the first visit. The medical records will be received by the CNL team from the referring doctor. After you give consent, the team will request information about your child from the school and/or organizations already involved in your child’s care. The CNL team will review this information. If your child has previously undergone psychological assessment, it is important to bring the psychological report to the appointment so that we can review it as well.
First consultation
The first consultation consists of a joint conversation between you, your child, and the (pediatric) neurologist and clinical neuropsychologist/psychologist. The first consultation is scheduled for forty-five minutes. There will be time to get to know each other and to explain your child’s issues in detail. The pediatric neurologist and psychologist will listen carefully to your story and ask questions to you and your child. Additionally, the (pediatric) neurologist will conduct a neurological examination of your child during this consultation.
Neurological examination
Pediatric neurology is a medical specialty that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of children with disorders of the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and/or muscles.
