The Center for Neurological Learning and Developmental Disorders is a diagnostic center. This means that once the diagnosis and associated treatment recommendations have been determined, the team will refer your child back to the referring physician. Naturally, this will be done in consultation with you and with great care.
Treatment and Support

Comprehensive information
In addition, we provide comprehensive information to you, your child, and any other involved parties about the specific learning and developmental issues your child is experiencing. In this context, the psychologist, with your consent, may contact your child's school. Sometimes, an ambulatory support worker from the Kempenhaeghe School, De Berkenschutse, is asked to plan a one-time school visit. This support worker will discuss at the school what the results of the assessment mean for your child's performance at school.
Further support
Sometimes, we schedule a follow-up appointment to monitor your child's development. This can be done by phone, via video, or through a follow-up consultation. We can also provide short personal support to explain what the issues mean and how to manage them. This is called psycho-education. Additionally, it is possible to start medication to, for example, improve your child's attention. The CNL team has extensive experience with this.
Follow-up assessment
Sometimes, after an initial assessment, a clear working diagnosis cannot be established. In that case, the CNL team will continue to monitor your child, if you wish. After a while, we will invite your child for follow-up assessments and evaluation of their development.
