At the Center for Epilepsy Residential Care at Kempenhaeghe, we are experts and innovators in the field of epilepsy. We understand the impact of epilepsy and tailor our care, guidance, day activities, and leisure time accordingly. The resident and their abilities are our top priority, ensuring they receive the best possible care. By carefully identifying and weighing risks, we focus on what can be done with epilepsy and how an individual can fully participate, despite the limitations.

Living arrangements

The living arrangements vary from homes where very intensive care is provided in a highly protected environment to homes where care is more focused on guidance. There are homes for both children and adults, all with a homely atmosphere and tailored activities.

Types of care and the team

The care may include accommodation, treatment, guidance, personal care, nursing, day activities, and leisure time. We work with a multidisciplinary team of experts, including doctors specializing in intellectual disabilities, behavioral scientists, and specialized nurses. Additionally, each residential unit has a dedicated neurologist from the Academic Center for Epileptology. This allows us to rely on the broad experience and knowledge within our hospital in the fields of epileptology, sleep medicine, and neurocognition for specific medical questions.
