Multidisciplinary Clinic for Improved Dravet Care
Children diagnosed with Dravet Syndrome face a care-intensive life. This is not only very challenging for the child but also for their parents. To help children and their parents improve their quality of life and well-being during such an intensive journey, Kempenhaeghe, as an expert center in Dravet care, developed a new approach for better Dravet care. A multidisciplinary carousel, also known as the Dravet Clinic, aims to provide the same high-quality care while reducing the burden on children and parents. In this way, we ensure the best possible outcome with minimal strain.
Dravet Clinic
At the Dravet Clinic of Kempenhaeghe, children with (or suspected) Dravet can be seen at a young age with all their care needs. Children aged 6-8 months to 18 years and their parents are seen by specialists such as a pediatric neurologist, neuropsychologist, physiotherapist, speech therapist, social worker, and nurse specialist. By combining the various areas of expertise, a comprehensive view of the child’s neurological and overall functioning is formed, covering motor skills, language, cognition, and behavior, so that the best possible care advice can be given.
Referrals
Referrals to the Dravet Clinic of Kempenhaeghe are possible from any regular or academic hospital.
