The Center for Neurological Learning and Developmental Disorders at Kempenhaeghe has specialized knowledge about the learning and behavior of children with muscular diseases, such as Duchenne, Becker, and Myotonic Dystrophy.

Brain and muscular diseases

Recent research shows that some muscular diseases also affect the brain. As a result, learning and behavioral problems are more likely to occur. Early detection and support are crucial for the development of these children.

More quality of life

Thanks to improved medical care, children with muscular diseases live longer and have a higher quality of life. This makes guidance towards an as independent future as possible, including studies and work, even more important.
