The National Workgroup for Education and Epilepsy (LWOE) was established to support students with epilepsy throughout the Netherlands at their own regular schools. De Berkenschutse provides part of the educational support staff who, based on the needs of the student, work together with parents and the school to determine the forms of support needed for both the student and the school.
In this workgroup, De Berkenschutse collaborates with De Waterlelie, the school affiliated with the SEIN epilepsy center in Cruquius, North Holland.
Who does the LWOE focus on?
The ambulatory educational advisors of LWOE provide guidance and support to children and adolescents with epilepsy across the Netherlands. This includes students in primary education (BaO), special primary education (SBO), special education (SO), secondary education (VO), secondary vocational education (MBO), and secondary special education (VSO).
Helping students with epilepsy function better
The educational advisors of LWOE have the knowledge, experience, and medical network to optimally support students with epilepsy and their teachers in regular education. Together with the involved teachers, internal supervisors, school leaders, medical professionals, and the parents of these students, a goal-oriented approach is developed.
