LANS: An innovative approach to school attendance
LANS stands for "Leerlingen Allemaal Naar School" (Every Student to School), embodying a powerful vision of school attendance with a broad focus on prevention, promoting school attendance for all students, and intervention for chronic absenteeism. School attendance is crucial because school doors provide access to knowledge and create an environment where every student, no matter where they are, can feel welcome and supported. It serves as an essential foundation for learning experiences, social and emotional well-being, and, of course, the didactic development of students.
A comprehensive perspective on school attendance
LANS, initiated by De Berkenschutse and part of its guidance offerings, has the mission to give every student the opportunity to learn and grow within education. The dual objective includes proactively promoting school attendance and addressing school attendance issues. The MD-MTSS model, a promising preventive approach, guides LANS at three levels: universal prevention, targeted intervention, and intensive intervention.
Within LANS, we aim not only to apply scientific knowledge but also to actively develop it. Our research, including the international collaboration OTFA (On The Frontline for Attendance) and the effectiveness study on school treatment for chronic absenteeism within De Berkenschutse, contributes to scientific understanding and forms the foundation for evidence-based practices.
In close collaboration with schools, researchers, and international partners, we strive for the participation of every student in education, every day, everywhere.
