You need a referral

You can visit the Center for Sleep Medicine after being referred by a medical specialist or your general practitioner.

You or your doctor will send the referral letter to Kempenhaeghe. We will assess which of our sleep experts is best suited to your needs. You will then receive an invitation for an initial consultation. The appointment will take place in Heeze or Breda.

Preparation for your first appointment

Before your initial consultation, we will send you a questionnaire and a sleep/wake diary with instructions. This information helps the healthcare provider to map your concerns as accurately as possible and to discuss your experiences in the most effective way.

How quickly will you be helped?

Of course, you want to be helped as soon as possible, and we do our best to ensure that.

Normally, you will hear from us after we have received your referral letter. We will contact you to schedule a date and time for your first appointment.

Due to the increasing number of adults and children experiencing chronic insomnia in recent years, the waiting times have unfortunately increased. We are working with other healthcare providers to find solutions to this issue. Check our current waiting times. Do you feel that you are waiting too long for the care you need? Your health insurer may be able to assist you.

Diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up

In many cases, further investigation follows the intake interview, such as a measurement of your sleep at night. This can sometimes be done at home, but in many cases, you will be admitted for one night in Heeze or Breda. After the diagnosis, the specialist will develop a treatment plan. This can be carried out at Kempenhaeghe, but sometimes it may also be managed by the referring doctor. Once we begin treatment and a stable situation is achieved, we will refer you back to your healthcare provider.
