Practical approach

It is suspected that a bad night’s sleep directly influences the behavior and functioning of residents during the day. The study aims to prove this, and provide tools to improve this. Within the residential groups, sleep has been a point of concern for some time.

The study is still in its design stage, but it is clear that the approach will be as practical and clinical as possible. In addition to offering an insight in the incidence of sleep problems in people with an intellectual disability, the team aims to offer useful leads in treating the sleep problems. This is why the sleep problems related to the ideas on sleep hygiene will be examined, as well as whether interventions result in a better night’s sleep.
