Lennox-Gastaut, Lennox Gastaut syndrome
Lennox-Gastaut syndrome involves many different types of seizures. The first seizures typically appear when the child is between 3 and 5 years old.
A characteristic feature is when children suddenly become completely limp and fall over. Children with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome often have behavioral problems and severe developmental delay. Specific characteristics can be seen on the EEG. The seizures are difficult to treat with epilepsy medications.
At a specialized epilepsy center such as Kempenhaeghe, there is unique expertise and experience in helping children with (suspected) Lennox-Gastaut syndrome.
