The 15th edition of the annual international clinical symposium 'Update@kempenhaeghe.nl‘ has take place on Friday 22 March 2013 in Heeze, The Netherlands. Over the past decade and a half, this symposium has become a major international scientific event in the Low Countries, hosting over 750 delegates in 2012. This year the focus laid on diagnostic and therapeutical advances.
During state-of-art main sessions, workshops and parallel sessions, recent progress in the diagnosis and treatment of epilepsy, sleep disorders and cognitive dysfunction were discussed.
A distinguished national and international faculty guaranteed a high quality of presentations and content covering best clinical practice, results of the latest scientific research and illustrative cases.
The main sponsor of the symposium was UCB Pharma. The parallel sessions of the sleep update were sponsored by the BASS and NSWO.
Accreditation
Accreditation from the Dutch and Belgian neurological accreditation committees, societies of physicians for persons with intellectual disabilities (ABC1), pulmunologists, ENT-physicians, pediatricians, neurosurgeons, clinical neuropsychologists hand nurse practitioners (MANP) has been requested.

Winners poster presentation
In order to stimulate scientific research on epilepsy and sleep and wake disorders, the Scientific Committee at Kempenhaeghe invites young researchers to present their research projects.
Winners 2013
The winners of the poster presentation 2013 are Stephan Meesters, Tu/E (technical prize): ‘3D smart image to guide anterior temporal lobe resection surgery’ and Leen De Taeye, Ghent University (clinical prize): 'Attentional emotion control in dysphoric and non-dysphoric'.

Guided tour
The congres organisation provides the opportunity for on-site visit of some departments during a guided tour. Visitors were able to visit the new sleep lab of the centre for sleep medicine or the epilepsy centre.
