Referral to the centre for sleep medicine
You are referred to Kempenhaeghe by a specialist in a general or academic hospital. Sometimes, general practitioners refer directly. Referral is an option for instance:
- when the cause of the sleep problems remains unclear
- when sleep problems are not under control
- when a specialist approach is needed because of the combination with other problems such as development disorders, learning disorders, behavioural problems, labour problems – or medical/psychiatric disorders
- when a second opinion is needed.
Specialised in sleep problems
If you have a serious form of sleep and waking disorder for which your doctor or specialist is unable to determine the cause and/or an appropriate therapy, specialists of the Kempenhaeghe centre for sleep medicine may be able to help you. Complex sleep problems often require the knowledge of several specialists to make a good diagnosis (the problem and its cause) and determine the therapy. Kempenhaeghe indeed has these specialists 'in house'. Kempenhaeghe is experienced in many diagnostic and treatment methods and in counselling children and adults with sleep and waking disorders.
