Volunteering at Kempenhaeghe
Volunteer work at Kempenhaeghe has many different forms, but always means meaningful support. Volunteers make it possible to give residents and patients extra time and attention, or to create additional facilities. Currently, over 160 volunteers are active at Kempenhaeghe.
Many different forms
We have possibilities for volunteers at residential and patient departments, day activities and recreational activities. You may think of swimming, fitness, club activities such as football, billiards and walking, supervising residents in the manège, taking care of the horses or helping with the covered wagon. But also inspiring and helping residents in our own studio. At Providentia in Sterksel we have a bicycle shop, a general shop and a lending counter for videos, books and play materials, all staffed with volunteers. Volunteers can also help in our "cafe" de Proeverij. Furthermore we have volunteers acting as "foster families" for individual residents, in particular residents without family or family living far away. And those who enjoy being outdoors can set to work in the "snoezelbos" or at our farms.
Expectations
Obvious capabilities are being able to listen and accept residents as they are. But volunteer work asks for dedication, motivation and enthusiasm too. These are important as volunteer work is absolutely not without engagement. Therefore, it is important to make clear documented agreements.
