On 23 June, ir. N. Bomer, general director, received the NIAZ quality certificate from the director of the NIAZ (Netherlands institute for accreditation in health care). This care quality certificate was issued for the institution as a whole and is valid for a period of four years (ending on May 15, 2013). Kempenhaeghe is the first centre for epilepsy and specialized sleep/wake disorders hospital wit a NIAZ certificate.

Inspection authority NIAZ considers the culture of improvement in all departments of the epilepsy centre and the sleep medicine centre of Kempenhaeghe so convincing that the quality certificate was directly issued for four years. The usual procedure, being a preliminary accreditation status for an organization after the NIAZ inspection combined with a task yet to be tested, was skipped for Kempenhaeghe.
