Kempenhaeghe is a top reference centre of expertise in the fields of epileptology and sleep medicine. Our expertise is multidisciplinary with neurology at its core. Kempenhaeghe focuses on:

  • Diagnostics, treatment and counselling of people who have or possibly have a complex form of epilepsy and/or sleep/wake disorders or in whom the combination of this disorder with other problems results in complicated care needs.
  • Development and innovation of both fields through research and development.
  • Using our expertise to diagnose and treat children with neurological learning, behavioural and developmental problems.
  • Offering an optimized environment for mentally retarded people with epilepsy who have been entrusted to our long-term care.
  • Providing expertise based education, advice and knowledge transfer.

With respect, care, time and attention, Kempenhaeghe approaches its patients multidisciplinarily, focussing on their individual concerns. Kempenhaeghe considers our close collaboration with other expertise centres, especially the affiliated teaching centre De Berkenschutse and the academic world, as essential for the quality of our activities.

Vision

The existence of a specialized care institution is justified by the provision of care to special patient categories, forms of care not offered by general institutions, and with a higher quality level and more efficiently organized.

The existence of a specialized care institution is justified by the provision of care to special patient categories, forms of care not offered by general institutions, and with a higher quality level and more efficiently organized.

Thus, we at Kempenhaeghe primarily base our doings on professionalism. That is the primary distinguishing element offered by Kempenhaeghe, among other things by continuously working on enlargement of knowledge, experience and insight, and by investing in environment and resources, quality of care and collaborative relationships.

However, our basic principle is that Kempenhaeghe will always be an independent organization when we enter into a partnership. And every partnership should yield benefits for the patient as well as for Kempenhaeghe as a specialized centre. Another one of our policy principles is that the free market and competition in health care offers opportunities. It forces us to develop attractive services and make these known wider and clearer.
